Approaches to the trail entrances (fifth stations)

Fuji-Subaru Line Fifth Station (Yoshida Trail)

The entrance to Yoshida Trail, the most popular route for climbing Mount Fuji, is the Fuji-Subaru Line Fifth Station located at the end of the Fuji-Subaru Line. Climbers’ buses bound for the Fuji Subaru Line Fifth Station depart from Mt.Fuji and Kawaguchiko Stations on the Fujikyu Line. You can switch to the Fujikyu Line at Otsuki Station on the JR Chuo Main Line, from where it takes about 40 minutes to Kawaguchiko Station by express train. If you come from areas around Tokyo, convenient direct expressway buses to the fifth station (for a limited time only) are available from Shinjuku. There also are buses from Mt.Fuji Station to Umagaeshi, a starting point to the first station for the Yoshida-guchi Trail, which has been used since ancient times.

Subashiri Fifth Station (Subashiri Trail)

Climbers’ buses bound for the Subashiri Fifth Station, the entrance to Subashiri Trail, depart from the two train stations of Gotemba on the JR Gotemba Line and Shin-matsuda on the Odakyu Line. From the Kanto area, you can come to Shin-matsuda on the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku or switch to the Gotemba Line at Kozu Station on the JR Tokaido Line and get off at Gotemba Station. From the Kansai area, head to Shizuoka Station using the Shinkansen or other lines and switch to the Tokaido Main Line. You then switch to the Gotemba Line at Numazu Station to come to Gotemba Station.

Gotemba new Fifth Station (Gotemba Trail)

To go to the Gotemba New Fifth Station, the entrance to Gotemba Trail, use a climbers’ bus from Gotemba Station on the JR Gotemba Line. From the Kanto area, you will come to Gotemba Station by switching to the Gotemba Line at Kozu Station on the JR Tokaido Line or using an expressway bus from Tokyo or Yokohama Station. From the Kansai area, head to Shizuoka Station using the Shinkansen or other lines and switch to the Tokaido Main Line. Then switch to the Gotemba Line at Numazu Station and get off at Gotemba Station. There also are buses from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyu Line bound for Gotemba Station (it takes about 50 minutes).

Fujinomiya Fifth Station (Fujinomiya Trail)

Climbers’ buses bound for the Fujinomiya Fifth Station, the entrance to Fujinomiya Trail, depart from the four train stations of Mishima, Shin-fuji, Fuji, and Fujinomiya on JR Lines. From the Kanto area, take a climbers’ bus from JR Mishima Station (Tokaido Main Line and Shinkansen Line), or come to Fujinomiya Station using an expressway bus from Tokyo Station, Haneda Airport, or Yokohama Station. From the Kansai and Nagoya areas, it is convenient to head to Shin-fuji Station using the Shinkansen Line or use a direct bus to the trail entrance from Shizuoka Station. From the Shin-etsu area, switch to the Minobu Line at Kofu Station on the JR Chuo Main Line and get off at Fujinomiya Station.
